Starting my non-profit organization!

Who would have thought that ordering water-bottles with your logo on them could be so exciting! But I can't wait!!!! This week I start really advertising for my non-profit and looking for sponsors so we can open our doors this fall. I'm super excited and a little overwhelmed at the idea of all the things I need to do to get things started!

I've come to the official decision that vacations are nearly as important to my health as vitamins, vegetables, water, sleep, and scripture study! I recently had the amazing adventure of visiting our nation's capital - so beautiful! I learned so much as well! My favorite two places were the Library of Congress and the Holocaust Museum. I learned a lot about myself, loved seeing the amazing sites, learning (and in some cases relearning) the stories of citizens of this nation. I left feeling, very inspired to get my non-profit organization started and feeling a definite call to duty. To teach!! All in all the trip was fabulous - I didn't get very lost on the metro. (This is an accomplishment of which I am quite proud.) I was only slightly disoriented in the parking garage, but that was clearly not my fault. jk - love you Kathryn! I look forward to visiting DC again soon, or perhaps some other destination. Israel sounds nice!

So it's been about three million years since I've written anything on my blog - ok probably not, but it seems that way. Today for some reason I feel like I should update it and record some of my thoughts. My adventures and life lessons learned since the last post have been many. My roommate, Ash, and I have decided that our lives would make a truly fantastic and somewhat tragic movie - in the best way possible of course. I've learned myriads of lessons about change, communication, love, patience, foregiveness, dissapointment, success, inspiration, friendship, etc. The list is indeed too long for one post. I think my past years' experiences can be summed up in the statement that life is difficult, people are imperfect, dissapointments are many, laughter is healing, loving is ALWAYS best, and the Lord is ever merciful. I choose to see the good. I'm not forced to smile because my life lacks pain, depth, difficulty and adversity. I don't smile out of a naive belief that there is no evil or because I haven't seen hardship. I choose to smile, because I choose to live in hope. I choose to recognize the truth that God is good, that my Heavenly Father loves me, and that despite the adversarie's most vigilant and constant attempts to thwart works of goodness and progress in all fields - nothing is impossible with God! I pray that each of you feel of God's love and if you are temporarily forgetting who you are or what you are capable of, feel free to ask, and I will be happy to remind you. I hope that you all have a fabulous day, filled with the choicest blessings our Father in Heaven has in store for you. Good day and God bless.

Family

While funerals are often a time of sadness, I feel peace and gratitude. I learned a lot and was truly blessed by the experiences I've had this week. I am eternally grateful for the legacy that my grandfather, Lynwood J Child Miles, left for his family. I'm always in awe of the many amazing qualities that I see in each of my family members Jeff, Scott, Chad, Melissa and especially my mom and dad. I see in them such great examples of courage, faith, patience, service, love, wisdom, hard work, and integrity. I'm eternally grateful to my Father in Heaven for the beautiful family He sent me to.

Roadtrip!

It may seem strange that I like roadtrips so much. But there is something delightful about packing the car full of goodies and driving to a new horizon to explore. Plus there are always all sorts of adventures to be had along the way. Ashley and I drove to California where we met up with Paul and enjoyed one of my favorite places, Disneyland!!!!!!!

So I just found out tonight that the masters program emphasis that I applied for has been discontinued. Now I get to figure out what I want to do with my life. I have a beautiful empty white canvas and millions of colors to choose from. I just have decide what to paint. Or I could try the learn as you go approach. Say a prayer, ponder it, then dip in my brush and start creating. Acrylics are foregiving. You can always paint over old mistakes, or use a few carefully placed brushstrokes to transform them into masterpieces. I can't wait to see what the final piece will look like. :)
